Geophysical Acquisition Reporting System (GARS)

PointCross's Geophysical Acquisition Reporting System (GARS) is used by Geophysical Operations Groups at E&P Companies to automate processes for planning, managing, and tracking geophysical (seismic) data acquisition projects.

GARS connects seismic teams from remote locations back office and geophysical operations so they can securely and simply communicate. Back office operations monitor the progress of data acquisitions through daily reports sent in from the field. GARS automates this reporting process with simple forms that are automatically sent with prefilled information and any non-standard questions or instructions to the site. The client representatives then enters data before returning the forms to the back office where the data is stripped out, validated, and then split into sections for different divisions – acquisition progress, HSE, project management and operation & planning.

Benefits include:

  • Automation with built in validation improves accuracy and timely reporting
  • Capturing "commits" of expenditures made at the well-site to allow teams to immediately determine their alignment to their AFE (Approved for Expenditures)
  • Aggregating commits allow back-office operations to accurately estimate cost at completion
  • Save time reviewing invoices submitted by contractors by using the reported commits to create anticipatory pro-forma invoices with detailed line items that can be sent to challenge the contractor rather than the E&P company's geophysical teams
  • Make it easy for joint-venture partners to share information and make decisions

Key Features:

  • Provides field client representatives with online web-based and Excel/email based off-line facilities to submit daily acquisition activity reports to client representatives
  • Customizable dashboards that meet the needs of each role
  • Generate pro-forma invoices based on commits reported from the field in real time so accountants can anticipate the total invoice from the oil field service companies with line item details
  • Graph and charting tools
  • Standardized formats to capture information relevant to geophysical operations (2D, 3D, transition zone, vibroseis, etc)
  • Automated workflow and alerting controls to facilitate routine or on-demand data updates for individual projects by managers or other authorized personnel
  • Allow appropriate stakeholders to map people with respect to relevant roles, responsibilities and projects/contexts based on a need-to-know basis
  • Provides capabilities to sort, filter, rank, prioritize and search projects and related data using online dashboards
  • Generate the latest progress & Geophysical report on demand with a single click
  • Consolidated field data is submitted in context with the associated project to enable historical analyses and support operational decisions
  • Authorized users of projects can easily access the data from anywhere at any time
  • Provide instant and improved visibility into geological activities (i.e. subsurface information through Web-based systems)
  • Automation of routine reporting and approval activities and any data that must be shared with JV partners
  • Reduces the amount of time to distribute geological data to the personnel related to specific projects
