When: June 14th - 16th

PointCross will join Microsoft to launch and showcase Upstream Reference Architecture at the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE) 2010 in Barcelona, Spain on June 14th - 17th.

Reference Architecture for the Upstream Exploration and Production Industry offers a common architectural approach to IT that furthers the flow of information across all upstream business units. This enables multiple parties with multiple technologies to work together efficiently, integrating business applications, processes, people and data to facilitate more consistent workflows across and within organizations. Specifically, the Upstream Reference Architecture improves business performance in the upstream sector by offering the following:

  • Better integration of upstream applications through the composition of common applications components,
  • Simplification and unification of information flow across the upstream sector, and
  • An established environment within which systems integrators and solutions providers can design and build solutions

"PointCross has chosen to be an enthusiastic early adopter of the Upstream Reference Architecture. We are confident that this architecture and framework will reduce costs and risks for E&P companies by enabling seamless and secure data exchange, interactions and workflow across their partner and service eco-system" said Dr. Suresh Madhavan, CEO, PointCross, Inc.

"Adoption of this common architecture will also increase transparency and clear designation of accountability while allowing competing vendors to bring their latest technology to market. We are working closely with Microsoft, Schlumberger, Accenture and other members of this collaborative initiative to rapidly establish a clear and practical framework for all aspects of E&P business from the Field to the Boardroom. Furthermore, most of our E&P offerings such as Technical Search, IEPS and EP-Data Services Layer are already aligned with this Upstream Reference Architecture."

"The Microsoft Upstream Oil & Gas Reference Architecture allows multiple parties with multiple technologies to work together efficiently through better integration and interoperability among upstream applications," said Ali Ferling, managing director, Worldwide Oil & Gas Industries. "This IT foundation is critical in delivering a common, integrated approach to digital oilfield operations. Microsoft is committed to an ongoing journey of development and promotion of this technology framework to facilitate better collaboration and flow of vital industry information."
