SOT Highlights

PointCross had a very busy and successful 2011 SOT conference held from March 7-10 in Washington DC. Our booth was one of the most vibrant and active spots at ToxExpo with well over two hundred visitors interested in our Study Data Integration and Search (SDIS) and ToxVision solutions, as well as our data conversion services for the Biopharma R&D industry. We had deep conversations on various topics of search, data integration, regulatory review processes and SEND-based data exchange with existing clients as well as new ones interested in learning more about SDIS and ToxVision. Several visitors also attended detailed product demonstrations conducted by our experienced staff.

Our sponsored session on "Accelerating Project Reviews and Improving Drug Safety Evaluation Through Nonclinical Search and Data Exchange" held on Wednesday March 9th was attended by industry leaders, scientists and regulatory personnel. Dr. Shree Nath, VP of Pharmaceutical and HLS at PointCross provided an industry perspective on this overall topic, as well as an overview of how our SDIS technology addresses urgent needs in the industry for search and data integration informatics technology to discover safety and efficacy signals across disparate nonclinical data.

This presentation was followed by observations from our expert panel comprising Dr. Alessandro Brigo, an in silico computational scientist from Roche; Dr. Jon Kimball, an expert in clinical pathology with over three decades of experience in the Pharmaceutical business; and Shree Nath.

We had a very engaged audience who posed questions ranging from the status and roadmap for SEND (the CDISC and FDA led initiative for regulatory exchange of nonclinical data), to the use of historical controls for comparative search and analysis, to how technology like SDIS will impact internal toxicological review processes as well as more comprehensive uses of available data for safety related and drug selection decisions.

All in all, this was an excellent conference coinciding with the 50th Anniversary of the Society of Toxicology!
