Cap-Ex Programs
PointCross’ Cap-Ex programs represent a family of related IEPS solutions
for very large, capital intensive, EPC contracted programs consisting of
multiple projects in multiple phases, with multiple major-subsystems. Examples
include the design and construction of facilities such as offshore platforms,
terminals, pipelines, facilities and on-site processing plants, FPSO, and
the like.

Features
- This solution provides a tollgated process for maturing a project through
configurable stages (Plan, Appraise, Define, Detailed Design, Construct,
Operate). Several such projects combine to form a program.
- The Cap-Ex Project Management Office provides a WIP (Work in Process)
space, along with data stores for all project information, by stage, along
with the project Work Breakdown Structure (WBS). This includes communications,
meetings, milestones, risk/mitigation registries, issues/action items
registries, lessons learned, deliverables and decisions.
- The solution is pre-integrated with Microsoft Project, and can be used
to view and access Gantt, PERT/CPM and resource leveling tools. Optional
integration to other project WBS solutions, and to legacy solutions such
as PLM and sub-surface G&G technical applications can also be provided.
- The solution establishes project level cost and schedule risks from
reported progress on milestones, deliverables, and costs.
- Interface Management – the solution ensures that system interfaces,
contractual (right of contract), and project execution are consistently
managed according to established governance/compliance practices, and
ensures a “system of record” for such interfaces.

Office
The Cap-Ex Project Portfolio Management solution provides the means for aligning
the strategic plans of the company from different regions, and for executive
management to have sufficient controls to steer project investments towards
better alignment with changes in strategy.

Cap-Ex Financials Office
The Cap-Ex Financials solution drives project estimation, budgeting, approval
for expenditure, commits and actuals tracking. It allows project finance and
project management personnel to have visibility into spends, with the ability
to forecast costs at completion, and cash flow effects.
Features
- The Cap-Ex Financials solution provides estimation templates that tie
into project WBS and creates multiple estimates and baselines.
- The solution matures estimations to budget, and establishes multiple
baselines as the plans evolve.
- The solution allows establishment of an AFE (Approval for Expenditure).
It manages the collection of transactions from individual projects and
correlates them against the AFE, with relevant status warnings and alerts.
- The Financials solution establishes a “Committed” budget,
which forecasts future expenditures based on technical and logistical
decisions made in the field, when outside contractors and suppliers have
been given the go ahead.
- The Financials solution closes the loop with ERP systems so that invoices
are approved against commits, create the true “actuals” for
a project.
